Sun Certification Now Integrated With Oracle Certification Program
September 1st, 2010 by Harold Green

Effective September 1, Sun certifications have been republished and re-branded under the Oracle certification program.

If you achieve a Java, Oracle Solaris, MySQL or OpenOffice certification after September 1, you will receive a new Oracle Certification title. If you are in the process of preparing for an exam, rest assured that the format and objectives of these exams will not be changing and your voucher(s), will still be valid through the expiration date and redeemable at prometric.com. If you are currently Sun Certified, your certification with the Sun Certification title, will be fully recognized under the Oracle program.

If you are considering a certification, wait no more! These credentials will continue to be some of the highest recognized achievements in the industry. Learn more!

Is Certification in the Doldrums?
July 28th, 2010 by Anne Martinez

I recently started a conversation about the state of IT certification with fellow certification watcher Ed Tittel. The popularity of IT certification among IT professionals has certainly gone up and down over the years, and current subjective evidence tends to suggest that the down has been sticking for a while this time. Is it really true, and if so, what factors are playing into this? Is it simply the state of the economy in the US and elsewhere or is it something else? Are IT pros just hunkered down hoping their jobs stay put and keeping the money they might spend on certification safe in the bank, or are other factors such as the struggle against exam cheaters playing a role? Ed has started a discussion in his blog over on the IT Knowledge Exchange, so why not pop over and add your 2 cents?
